Some Things Never Change....

There are some things in life that never change. So, if they never change, let’s learn the rules. A teacher once told me “once you know the rules, embrace them.”

Math is a constant, the Order of Operations Agreement works every time. In the world of physics, base rules are used to test hypotheses to discover interactions and relationships. Rules are tough, especially for creative types, but these rules are what hold the world together. Gravity, humidity, the sun rising in the east and setting in the west every single day give us comfort. Unless you are a genetic anomaly, I know where your hypothalamus, splenic plexus, vagus nerve and capitate are. You see, anatomy is a constant. Although everyone can be a little different – your bones, muscles, nerves and everything else that makes your body work are sure to be there.

I am happy and excited to announce that Quality Assurance has constants. That’s why we need to learn the rules. These basic elements are so robust and dependable that they uphold the assurance of a quality product, no matter what. If supplier evaluations are executed , you will get great materials; develop process controls and reduce variation and waste. Develop a product using a documented system and test results can be traced to specific components and ease problem solving. Train staff members and promote teamwork and they will be empowered to make effective decisions. Follow the Document and Record Procedure and test results and other data are readily available. Have a segregated location for defective materials and the product becomes more reliable. Capturing complaints and customer feedback will ensure that the next generation of the product addresses customer concerns. It’s worth the time to develop the rules, massage them to meet your culture and products – then simply live the Quality System that you’ve made.

When a strong system is developed, it can withstand vendor changes, opportunities to grow the business and new products to remain competitive. As the regulatory environment fluctuates, it’s met with confidence. In short –there is success!
