Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center

The University of Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2) has announced the M2D2 $100K Challenge 2016, a nationwide competition that showcases innovative ideas of early-stage medical device, diagnostic, and biotech companies. R&Q is proud to announce that we are one of several sponsors who will award up to a total of $100K in services (we're also a Platinum Sponsor of M2D2 in general). Winning companies can receive use of the facility's lab and office space, along with engineering, legal, regulatory, clinical and business services.

“Our goal is to help entrepreneurs gain valuable services needed during the tenuous stages of early product development,” said Stephen McCarthy, professor and co-director of M2D2 at UMass Lowell. “Expert advice, mentoring and access to facilities can be the difference between failure and success. We hope start ups across the U.S. will apply to receive these valuable services."

Interested companies need to submit an application by Jan. 29th, 2016, which is next Friday! Finalists will be announced by March 2nd and will pitch their business plan to a panel of judges on March 23rd. Winners be announced at the offices of Mintz Levin in Boston on April 6th.

R&Q will be attending the Challenge Showcase and Poster Sessions event on March 23rd, along with the Challenge Winner Ceremony on April 6th. We hope to see you at these events! Big ideas begin to take shape in early-stage medical device and biotech companies, so these are very exciting events to be a part of.
